- Augmenting Writing Skills for Articulating Research (AWSAR) scheme was launched by Science and Technology Ministry's National Council of Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) in January 2018.
- It aims to encourage popular science writing through newspapers, magazines, blogs, social media etc. by young PhD Scholars and Post-Doctoral Fellows during their higher studies and research pursuits. As over 20,000 youth are awarded PhD in S&T every year in India.
- AWSAR carries incentive of INR 10000 each for 100 best entries from PhD scholars in a year along with a Certificate of Appreciation. In addition, 3 leading stories would also be awarded cash prize of INR 100000, 50000 and 25000 respectively.
- Further, 20 entries would be selected from articles submitted by Post-Doctoral Fellows relating to their line of Research for monetary incentive of 10000 each and most outstanding story to be given a cash prize of 100000.
