Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has invited online applications for the highly regarded and competitive Central Armed Police Forces Assistant Commandants (CAPF AC) Examination 2026, which aims to fill vacancies for Assistant Commandant (Group A) posts in various Central Armed Police Forces, including BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB.

  • Final year / result awaited candidates are eligible to apply, subject to submission of proof of passing degree within the prescribed timeline after the written examination.
  • 10% of total vacancies are reserved for Ex-Servicemen as per Government policy.

Mode of Recruitment :

The Selection Process will be conducted in sequential stages comprising Written Examination, Physical Standards Test (PST)/Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Interview/Personality Test, Medical Standards Test, and Final Merit List preparation.

Written Examination

The Written Examination will be held on 19-07-2026 in two sessions. Paper-I will be conducted from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon and Paper-II from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Marking Rules
  • There will be penalty (negative marking) for wrong answers marked in the Objective Type Question Papers.
  • There are four alternatives for the answer to every question. For each question for which a wrong answer is given, one third (0.33) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty. If a question is left blank, i.e., no answer is given by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question.
  • Minimum qualifying marks will be fixed separately for each Paper. Paper-II will be evaluated only for those candidates who qualify Paper-I.

Physical Standards Test (PST) / Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Candidates qualifying the Written Examination will be called for PST. Only those meeting prescribed physical standards will proceed to PET.

PST/PET will be conducted under supervision of a Nodal Authority appointed by the Ministry of Home Affairs at notified centres.

Interview/Personality Test

Candidates qualifying PST/PET will be called for Interview/Personality Test carrying 150 Marks.

Medical Standards Test

Medical Examination will be conducted after Interview. Appeal against DME findings may be filed within 24 hours of result declaration.

Final Selection

Final Merit will be prepared based on marks obtained in Written Examination and Interview/Personality Test.

Tie-Breaking Rules

  • Higher aggregate written marks will rank higher.
  • If tie persists, higher marks in Paper-I will rank higher.
  • If still equal, senior candidate in age will rank higher.

Fee Structure :

Applicable application fee is to be paid online. Fee structure is -

  • SC/ST/Female candidates: Exempted from payment of fee

How to Apply :

Candidates are required to apply online for Central Armed Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) Examination, 2026 through the prescribed portal. The application process will be completed as follows:

  1. Online Registration and Profile Creation:
    1. Create an account on the online portal and generate the Universal Registration Number (URN). The URN will remain constant for all examinations of the Commission, while a separate Application Number will be generated for each examination form filled by the candidate.
    2. Complete the Common Application Form (CAF) and Examination Specific Module by entering details such as date of birth, category, educational qualification, service preferences and other required information along with supporting documents.
    3. Provide details of one valid Photo ID Card (Aadhaar Card/Voter Card (EPIC)/PAN Card/Passport/Driving License/Any other Government issued Photo ID). The same ID will be used for future reference and should be carried to the Examination/Personality Test.
  2. Uploading of Photograph and Signature:
    1. Upload scanned photograph in .jpg format with file size between 20 KB and 200 KB.
    2. Upload scanned signature in .jpg format with file size between 20 KB and 100 KB.
    3. Sign three times (one below the other) on plain white paper using black ink and upload the same.
    4. Capture live photograph during filling of the Common Application Form. Uploaded and live photographs must be clear as per prescribed instructions.
  3. Payment of Application Fee:
    1. Pay Rs.200/- through Net Banking Facility of any Bank or by using Visa/Master/RuPay/Credit/Debit Card/UPI Payment.
    2. Female candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes are exempted from payment of fee.
    3. OBC and EWS candidates are required to pay the full prescribed fee.
  4. Final Submission and Important Conditions:
    1. Submit the Online Application for CAPF (ACs) Examination, 2026 between 20-02-2026 and 12-03-2026 till 18:00 hours. No withdrawal, correction, alteration or modification of application will be allowed after submission.
    2. One-time edit facility will be available only for updating the URN Profile, and changes will apply only to applications submitted after re-locking the updated profile.
    3. Candidates are not required to send hard copy of the application to Union Public Service Commission at this stage.
    4. Candidates are strongly advised to keep a printout or soft copy of the submitted application for future reference.
