Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) is inviting online applications for 228 permanent positions, including Scientific Assistants, Stipendiary Trainees, and Assistant Grade-1 roles at Tarapur (Maharashtra) site. These roles involve critical responsibilities in nuclear technology such as operation, maintenance, and waste management.

The vacancies consist of both current and backlog positions and are offered as permanent appointments following the successful completion of the required training period. Level 6 (35400 - 112400)

Initial pay will be approx 55932 per month

Stipendiary Trainee Technician (ST/TN - Category-II) 83 18 - 24 Years SSC with minimum 50% in Science and Maths plus 2-year ITI in relevant trade (Fitter, Turner, Machinist, etc.) or HSC (Science) for Plant Operator.

Level 3 (21700 - 69100)

Initial pay will be approx 34286 per month

X-Ray Technician (Technician-C) 02 18 - 25 Years HSC (Science) with 60% marks + 1-year Medical Radiography/X-Ray certificate + 2 years relevant experience.

Level 4 (25500 - 81100)

Initial pay will be approx 40290 per month

Assistant Grade-1 (HR) 06 21 - 28 Years Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with minimum 50% marks.
Assistant Grade-1 (F&A) 05 21 - 28 Years Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with minimum 50% marks.
Assistant Grade-1 (C&MM) 04 21 - 28 Years Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with minimum 50% marks.
Age Relaxation:
  • SC/ST: 05 Years
  • OBC (NCL): 03 Years
  • PwBD: 10 to 15 Years
  • Ex-Servicemen: As per government rules
  • NPCIL Contract Workers: Up to 05 Years
Other Eligibility Conditions:
  • Permanent Post: These are permanent positions; Stipendiary Trainees will be considered for appointment as Scientific Assistant/B or Technician/B after successful completion of training.
  • Final Year Eligibility: Candidates must have passed the qualifying exam by 04-02-2026. Those whose results are not declared by this date are not eligible.
  • Domicile/Language: Applicants must be Indian Nationals. There is no specific local domicile requirement mentioned for general candidates, but special relaxations are pescribed for Project Affected Persons (PAPs) of Tarapur Maharashtra Site.
  • Educational Mode: Only full-time regular qualifications from recognized institutions are accepted; distance learning or open schooling is not valid.

24 months (02 years) First year: Rs. 20,000 per month
Second year: Rs. 22,000 per month
Book allowance: Rs. 3,000
Bond period: 5 years after completion of training.
Bond amount / Bank Guarantee: Rs. 5,07,000/-.

  • If a candidate is found medically fit, relaxation in prescribed physical standards may be granted.

Mode of Recruitment :

For Scientific Assistant/B (Civil) & Stipendiary Trainee / Scientific Assistant (ST/SA - Category-1)

Online Exam
  • Total questions: 50 objective-type questions with four options.
  • Each correct answer will carry 2 marks. For each incorrect answer, 0.5 mark will be deducted.
  • Examination duration: 90 minutes (1.5 hours).
  • Questions will be related to the concerned discipline (subject knowledge).
  • Minimum qualifying marks:
    • 40% for UR category candidates.
    • 30% for SC / ST / OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) / EWS / PwBD candidates.
  • Question paper will be bilingual (English and Hindi).
Personal Interview

Based on performance in the online examination, candidates numbering approximately five times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted for the Personal Interview.

  • Total interview marks: 100.
  • Minimum qualifying marks:
    • 40% for UR category candidates.
    • 30% for SC / ST / OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) / EWS / PwBD candidates.
Final Merit
  • The final merit list will be prepared based on combined performance in Online Examination & Personal Interview (50:50 weightage).
  • Candidates scoring higher marks in the interview will be placed higher in the merit list in case of tie. If tie still persists, candidates scoring higher marks in the online examination will be ranked higher.

For X-Ray Technician (Technician-C), Stipendiary Trainee (ST/TN – Maintainer) & Stipendiary Trainee (ST/TN – Operator)

Online Examination (Prelims)
  • Total questions: 50 objective-type questions with four options.
  • Subject-wise distribution:
    • Mathematics: 20 questions
    • Science: 20 questions
    • General Awareness: 10 questions
  • Each correct answer will carry 3 marks. For each incorrect answer, 1 mark will be deducted.
  • Minimum qualifying marks:
    • 40% for UR category candidates.
    • 30% for SC / ST / OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) / EWS / PwBD candidates.
Online Examination (Advanced)
  • All candidates qualifying Stage 1 will appear in Stage 2.
  • Examination duration will be 2 hours, with 50 objective-type questions (150 maximum marks).
  • For each incorrect answer, 1 mark will be deducted.
  • Questions will be based on trade-specific / professional (technical) knowledge.
  • Minimum qualifying marks:
    • 30% for UR category candidates.
    • 20% for SC / ST / OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) / EWS / PwBD candidates.
Merit List
  • Merit list will be prepared only on the basis of marks obtained in Stage 2 (Advanced Test).
  • In case of equal marks, merit ranking will be decided as follows:
    • Candidate with higher marks in Stage 2 will be placed higher.
    • If tie persists, candidate with higher marks in Stage 1 will be placed higher.
    • If tie still persists, candidate with higher marks in Mathematics in Stage 1 will be placed higher.
    • If still unresolved, candidate with higher marks in Science in Stage 1 will be placed higher.

Notably, Preliminary and Advanced examinations will be conducted on the same day.

Stage 3 : Doc verification and PST (Physical standards test)

  • Candidates will be shortlisted for Stage 3 based on the merit list prepared after Stage 2.
  • Shortlisting ratio will not exceed three times the number of vacancies for each post, including reserved and unreserved categories..
X-Ray Technician (Technician-C)
  • Candidates will be shortlisted for Stage 3 based on the merit list prepared after Stage 2.
  • The skill test will be qualifying in nature and will be assessed on a pass or fail basis.
  • Minimum qualifying marks in skill test:
    • 50% marks for UR category candidates.
    • 40% marks for SC / ST / OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) / EWS / PwBD candidates.
  • The number of candidates shortlisted for Stage 3 will not exceed three times the number of vacancies for each post.
  • Candidates qualifying the skill test will be shortlisted for document verification.

Final Merit List

After completion of document verification and PST, the final merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in Stage 2.


For Assistant Grade-1 (HR) / Assistant Grade-1 (Finance & Accounts) / Assistant Grade-1 (C& MM)

Stage 1: Online Examination – Preliminary Test
  • The online examination will be conducted for a maximum of 150 marks, with 50 objective-type questions. Examination duration will be 1 hour.
  • Each correct answer will carry 3 marks. For each incorrect answer, 1 mark will be deducted.
  • Subject-wise distribution:
    • General Knowledge & Current Affairs: 25 questions
    • Computer Knowledge: 15 questions
    • English Language: 10 questions
    Minimum qualifying marks:
    • 40% for UR category candidates.
    • 30% for SC / ST / OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) / EWS / PwBD candidates.
Stage 2: Online Examination – Advanced Test
  • All candidates qualifying Stage 1 will appear for Stage 2.
  • Examination duration will be 2 hours, with 50 objective-type questions of 3 marks each.
  • For each incorrect answer, 1 mark will be deducted.
  • Subject-wise distribution:
    • Quantitative Aptitude: 25 questions
    • Reasoning Ability: 25 questions
  • Minimum qualifying marks:
    • 30% for UR category candidates.
    • 20% for SC / ST / OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) / EWS / PwBD candidates.
Merit List After Stage 2
  • A provisional merit list will be prepared based solely on marks obtained in Stage 2.
  • In case of equal marks, merit ranking will be decided as follows:
    • Candidate scoring higher marks in Stage 2 will be ranked higher.
    • If tie persists, candidate scoring higher marks in Stage 1 will be ranked higher.
    • If tie still persists, older candidate will be ranked higher.
Document Verification and Final Selection
  • Candidates will be shortlisted for document verification based on the Stage 2 merit list (upto three times nunber of vacancies).
  • Final selection will be based on marks obtained in Stage 2, subject to successful document verification and medical fitness.\
  • After final appointment, selected candidates will have to pass a typing test after six months of service. Two chances will be given to qualify the same. In case of failure to qualify the typing test, the services will be terminated.

Waiting List

Candidates in the waiting list will be equal in number to the selected candidates. The waiting list will be operated only in case of non-joining or resignation of selected candidates within the prescribed joining period. Vacancies arising due to non-joining or resignation will be filled strictly in order of merit from the waiting list. The waiting list will remain valid only up to the completion of the recruitment process for the respective post and will lapse thereafter.

  • Category-I Stipendiary Trainee (ST/SA – Diploma Holders in Engineering / Science Graduates) and Scientific Assistant/B (Civil): Rs. 150/-
  • X-Ray Technician (Technician-C), Assistant Grade-1 (HR / Finance & Accounts / C&MM) and Category-II Stipendiary Trainee (ST/TN): Rs. 100/-
  • SC / ST / PwBD / Female / Ex-Servicemen / Dependents of Defence Personnel Killed in Action (DODPKIA) / Employees of NPCIL : Exempted from application fee

Candidates can apply online by following the grouped step-by-step process given below:

  1. Registration Process
    1. Click on online registration and create an account using name, date of birth, category, email ID and mobile number.
    2. An activation link will be sent to the registered email ID.
    3. Activate the account by clicking the link received through email.
  2. Filling Online Application Form
    1. Login using registered email ID and password.
    2. Select the post and discipline carefully.
    3. Enter educational qualification details.
    4. Fill post-qualification experience details, if applicable.
    5. Provide personal and communication details correctly.
  3. Uploading Documents
    1. Upload scanned photograph and signature in prescribed format.
    2. Photograph must be in JPEG format, maximum size 50 KB, minimum dimensions 125 × 165 pixels (4.4 cm × 5.8 cm).
    3. Signature must be in JPEG format, maximum size 20 KB, minimum dimensions 125 × 80 pixels (4.4 cm × 2.9 cm).
    4. Photograph should be recent and clearly visible.
    5. Signature must be done on white paper using black ink.
  4. Preview and Final Submission
    1. Review all entered information carefully before submission.
    2. Use the save and proceed option to move to the next step.
    3. Once submitted, no correction or modification will be allowed.
  5. Payment of Application Fee
    1. Candidates exempted from fee will receive the application number immediately after submission.
    2. Other candidates will be redirected to the online payment gateway.
    3. Fee payment must be made online using debit card, credit card, net banking or UPI.
    4. Do not refresh or close the browser during payment.
    5. Application and fee payment window will close on 04-02-2026 at 04:00 PM.
  6. After Submission
    1. After successful payment, a unique application number will be generated.
    2. No printed application form is required to be sent to Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited.
    3. Candidates may keep a printed or saved copy of the submitted application form for future reference.
    4. All further communication will be sent through registered email ID and mobile number.
