Project DescriptionThis project aims to use advanced science to unlock the secrets held within ancient wheat seeds. The research team is working hard to identify special parts of a plant's family history that make it naturally resistant to bugs and infections. This research is funded by the National Agricultural Science Fund (NASF), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to support the development of new and improved seeds for farmers. Through this medical research into plant genetics, the team hopes to provide a better treatment for the challenges of farming by creating a library of strong wheat types that can grow well even when conditions are difficult.

By using a method called cryopreservation, the medical research into plant health aims to build a library of these important species so they never go extinct. This research is funded by the ANRF to ensure that our natural biodiversity is preserved for future generations of farmers and scientists. The goal is to provide a better treatment for our natural resources by creating a secure collection that can be used to grow healthy plants whenever they are needed, helping the whole community keep their traditional crops alive.

  • Graduate/Post Graduate Degree in a Professional Course selected through:
    • i) National Eligibility Tests (CSIR/UGC-NET including lectureship) or GATE, OR
    • ii) National Level examinations conducted by central government agencies (DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MFIRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, etc.), OR
    • iii) At least 2 years of research experience in the relevant field.
Monthly SalaryRs. 42,000/- per month + HRA (if applicable)
