National Informatics Centre (NIC) is inviting online applications from eligible candidates for 243 vacant posts of Scientist-B on a direct recruitment basis. This Group-A S&T (Gazetted) position involves steering e-governance applications, implementing ICT infrastructure, and conducting research and development to promote digital opportunities for sustainable development. Online application process remains open until 24-04-2026.
Candidates will be shortlisted for the selection process based on a valid GATE score from the years 2024, 2025, or 2026 in Computer Science (CS), Electronics and Communication (EC), or Data Science and AI (DA) papers.

Mode of Recruitment :
Selection process will comprise of shortlisting based on GATE score, followed by Personal Interview and Document Verification.
Shortlisting
Eligible candidates will be shortlisted for interview on the basis of GATE score in the ratio of 1:5 (5 candidates will be called against 1 vacancy). If more than one candidate has the same GATE score, then all candidates with the same score will be shortlisted and called for interview. Document verification will be conducted before the interview. Documents to be brought along during the interview are as follows:
- Date of Birth proof: Birth certificate issued by Municipality / Matriculation Examination Certificate indicating Date of Birth
- Matriculation and Senior Secondary Examination Certificate / Marksheet
- GATE scorecard for the year 2024 / 2025 / 2026 as applicable
- Essential Qualification Certificate:
- Mark sheets indicating date of declaration of result
- Final Degree Certificate
- Provisional Passing Certificate (if final degree certificate is not issued)
- Certificate of conversion of CGPA from the Registrar of the University (if applicable)
- No Objection Certificate from the organization (for candidates working in Central/State Government/PSUs/Aided Institutions/Autonomous Bodies)
- Gazette Notification in respect of change of name (if applicable)
- Certificate of being Ex-Serviceman (if applicable in prescribed format)
- Age relaxation certificate for in-service candidates (if applicable in prescribed format)
- Caste/Category Certificate
- Aadhaar Card for Aadhaar-based authentication
- Any other Photo ID proof such as PAN Card / Driving License / EPIC ID / any other Government ID
Personal Interview
Candidates will be assessed in interview based on technical knowledge, presentation, communication skills, comprehension, and academic performance. In Interview, candidates must secure minimum qualifying marks of 50% for Unreserved category and 40% for EWS/OBC/SC/ST/PwBD categories.
Final Selection
Final selection will be based on category-wise and discipline-wise merit, with 60% weightage of GATE score and 40% weightage of marks in the Personal Interview.

In case of a tie in total marks, candidates will be ranked based on higher GATE score. If the tie persists, higher marks in technical (academic) knowledge in the interview will be considered. If still unresolved, the candidate older in age will be ranked higher.

- Step 1: Complete registration by entering basic details and creating login credentials.
- Step 2: Log in using application number and password, then fill the online application form and upload required documents as per mentioned specifications.
- Step 3: Pay the application fee online, if applicable as per category.
- Step 4: Download the confirmation page after successful submission of the online application. No changes will be allowed after final submission. Aadhaar-based authentication will be used at every stage.
- After submission, keep a printed copy of the confirmation page for future reference. No need to send the printout to National Informatics Centre (NIC).
