Indian Council of Historical Research (An Autonomous Organization Under Ministry of Education) is inviting applications from eligible candidates for 80 Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) to be awarded for 2025-26, as a whole-time engagement for research work. The last date for online submission of applications is 10-04-2026, while the hard copy must be submitted by 17-04-2026. Applicants must ensure they meet all eligibility compliance standards regarding Ph.D. registration in historical studies before applying.
The role requires candidates to conduct dedicated research in their registered Ph.D. topics within the areas of Ancient, Medieval, or Modern Indian History. The fellowship is for a maximum period of two years, extendable by one more year under special circumstances.

Mode of Recruitment :
The selection process will consist of an Online Examination (100 Marks), followed by a Presentation-cum-Interview (60 Marks).

The examination will be conducted in New Delhi (Delhi), Bengaluru (Karnataka), Guwahati (Assam), and Pune (Maharashtra).
Stage-II (Presentation-cum-Interview)
Candidates shortlisted based on merit in Stage-I will be called for Stage-II. Each candidate will be required to make a presentation (8–10 minutes, preferably on PowerPoint) based on their registered Ph.D. research topic, followed by an interview.
This stage will carry a maximum of 60 marks and will be conducted at ICHR Headquarters, New Delhi, in hybrid mode. Candidates must bring their Stage-I hall ticket at the time of the interview. SC, ST, and PwD candidates will be reimbursed second-class sleeper train or bus fare for Stage-II travel (minimum distance of 30 km), subject to submission of original tickets.
Final selection will be based on aggregate marks of Stage-I and Stage-II (total 160 marks).

- Registration:
- Complete the online registration by filling required details such as name, date of birth, mobile number, email ID, and specialization.
- Verify email ID through OTP and complete the registration process.
- Filling Online Application Form:
- Fill the complete online application form with correct academic, research, and personal details.
- Pay application fee of Rs. 500/- through online mode only (No fee for SC/ST/PWD candidates).
- Upload all required information and review carefully before final submission. Last date to submit online application is 10-04-2026.
- Hard Copy Submission:
- After submission, download and take printout of the application form. Also, take note of auto-generated application number.
- Attach self-attested copies of required documents, including:
- Ph.D. registration certificate
- Educational qualification certificates
- Research proposal forwarded by Supervisor
- Category certificate (if applicable)
- Published research papers (if any)
- Certificate from Supervisor/Head of Department
- Send hard copy of application form along with all documents to the mentioned address, so that it reaches on or before 17-04-2026.
