Gauhati High Court has invited online applications for permanent recruitment to various posts for its Principal bench, including Chauffeur (Driver), Computer Assistant, Judicial Assistant, and Multi Tasking Staff, with a total of 39 vacancies. Candidates must carefully check eligibility and compliance conditions before applying. The last date for submission of online applications is 26-01-2026.

The recruited candidates will be assigned duties as per their respective posts, such as driving official vehicles, computer and data-related work, judicial and clerical assistance, and routine office support services. Candidates who have passed HSSLC (Class 12) or above are not eligible.

Other Eligibility Conditions
  • Valid Employment Exchange registration in the State of Assam is mandatory.

Mode of Recruitment :

The selection process will be conducted in multiple stages including Written Test, Skill Test (where applicable), Driving Test (for Chauffeur post), and Viva Voce (Interview).

Stage 1: Written Examination

The written test will be conducted for the posts of Judicial Assistant, Computer Assistant, and Multi Tasking Staff. The examination will assess candidates on general aptitude, subject knowledge, and basic competencies required for the respective posts.

Chauffeur (Driver)

Multi Tasking Staff (MTS)
Component Details

Duration 1.5 hours
Total Marks 70 marks

Assamese Language Proficiency – 20 marks
Assamese Language Qualifying in nature.
Minimum 40% marks required (8 out of 20).
Marks will not be counted in merit list.

Stage 2: Skill Test / Computer Practical Test

This stage will be applicable only for the Computer Assistant post, carrying 30 marks. Candidates shortlisted from the written examination will appear for a computer practical test to evaluate typing speed, computer operation skills, and practical knowledge of software applications.

Candidates equal to 5 times the number of vacancies (1:5) in order of merit in the written examination will be called to appear in the skill test. A candidate must secure atleast 60% marks i.e. 18 out of 30 marks in the skill test in order to qualify the skill test.

Stage 3: Driving Test

For the Chauffeur (Driver) post, candidates will appear in a practical driving test of 40 marks. The test will evaluate driving skills, road sense, vehicle handling, and compliance with traffic rules (10 marks for each skill).

Stage 4: Viva Voce

Candidates shortlisted from the respective previous stages will be called for Viva Voce, carrying 20 marks. The interview will assess suitability for the post, practical understanding, communication ability, and overall personality. 12 marks will be needed, to qualify Interview.

Final merit will be based on combined marks of all applicable stages during the selection process.

Fee Structure :

Applicable application fee is to be paid online. Fee structure is -

  • UR / OBC / MOBC: Rs. 500/-
  • SC / ST: Rs. 250/-
  • SC (P) / ST (P) / ST (H): Rs. 250/-
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): Nil

  6. After successful submission of the application form, candidates must pay the applicable application fee online, if required.
  7. There is no requirement to send any printed copy of the application form or documents to the Gauhati High Court at this stage.
  8. Candidates are advised to keep a printed or saved copy of the submitted application form and fee receipt for future reference.
  9.
