Nature of Post
  • Permanent post.
  • One-year Training-cum-Probation period before absorption in E-2 grade.

Emoluments

  • Selected candidates will be placed in the pay scale of Rs. 60,000 – 1,80,000.
  • Basic Pay of Rs. 60,000 will be paid during the one-year Training-cum-Probation period.
  • On successful completion of probation, candidates will be absorbed in the same pay scale of Rs. 60,000 – 1,80,000/- in E-2 Grade. Initial salary will be approximately Rs. 1 lakh per month.

Other Eligibility Conditions

  • Only full-time regular courses from UGC-recognized Universities / AICTE-approved Institutions are eligible. Engineering degree can be B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Sc. Engg. A 5-year integrated B.E./B.Tech. + M.E./M.Tech. in the relevant discipline is also eligible.
  • Candidates from all States can apply.
  • Candidates who completed Engineering earlier than 2025 are not eligible.
  • Final year (2025–26) Engineering students are also eligible, subject to securing minimum required aggregate marks and submission of final degree/provisional certificate at the time of joining.
  • Only GATE-2026 marks are valid for this recruitment.
  • A candidate can apply for only one post/discipline.

Mode of Recruitment :

The selection process will consist of shortlisting based on GATE-2026 Marks followed by Group Discussion and/or Interview.

Shortlisting Based on GATE-2026 Marks

GAIL will utilize Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering – 2026 (GATE-2026) marks for recruitment of Executive Trainees in the notified disciplines during the year 2026. Only GATE-2026 marks will be valid for this recruitment exercise. GATE marks of 2025 or prior years will not be considered.

Group Discussion

The selection process will begin with a Group Discussion. The minimum qualifying percentage of marks to be secured in the Group Discussion will be 40% for UR/OBC (NCL)/EWS category candidates and 35% for SC/ST/PwBD category candidates.

Group Discussion will not be conducted for candidates belonging to PwBD Category B/D/E. In lieu of Group Discussion for these categories, a Case Study/Writing Exercise or any other suitable assessment tool will be adopted to assess skills and competencies, subject to securing a minimum of 35% marks.

Interview

Interview will be conducted for candidates who qualify in the Group Discussion phase. The minimum qualifying percentage of marks to be secured in the Interview will be 60% for UR/OBC (NCL)/EWS category candidates, 55% for SC/ST category candidates, and 50% for PwBD category candidates.

How to Apply

  1. Apply online through the facility provided by GAIL by entering the correct GATE-2026 Registration Number.
  2. The online application window will remain open from 20-02-2026 (1100 hrs) to 18-03-2026 (1800 hrs).
  3. Ensure that all details are entered correctly. No correction/modification facility will be provided after submission.
  4. After successful submission, a unique registration number will be generated and displayed on the screen. An auto-generated email will also confirm the submission.
  5. Take a printout of the online Application Form (with the unique registration number), sign it as instructed, and keep it safely for future reference.
  6. Do not send the printout of the online application to any office of GAIL (India) Limited at this stage. Candidates should retain one copy for future use.
