| Project Description | This research project at the V.V. Giri National Labour Institute explores the historical and philosophical foundations of work. The study focuses on research and documentation on labour in the ancient Indian knowledge system, examining texts from the Vedic, Mauryan, and Classical periods. Rephrasing is done to analyze the sociological and economic status of various worker classes as described in ancient scriptures and administrative manuals. The project aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how early Indian society viewed the dignity of labor, vocational training, and the relationship between the worker and the state, bridging the gap between traditional wisdom and modern industrial relations. |
