| Project Description | This SERB-DST funded project at NIT Silchar explores a cutting-edge approach to repairing aerospace and automotive materials. Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) laminates are strong but prone to internal cracks. This research uses MXene—a highly conductive two-dimensional material—modified with reversible disulfide bonds. When an alternating magnetic field is applied, the MXene generates localized induction heating. This heat triggers the "reversible" chemical bonds to move and reform, effectively "healing" cracks in the thermomorphic polymer without damaging the surrounding structure. |

| Qualification | B.Tech/B.E/M.Tech./M.E. in Mechanical Engineering/ Design and Manufacturing/ Materials Science and Engineering/ Metallurgical & Materials Engineering/ Aerospace Engineering/ Chemical and Polymer Engineering/ Plastic Engineering/ Polymer Technology and Graduate /Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course Selected through National Eligibility Test (CSIR-UGC NET/Gate) or other National level examination conducted by DST,DRDO, IISC, IIT, IISER etc |
