The research investigates structural changes in materials to prevent light-induced degradation. This project is funded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation.

  • M. Tech or, M. Sc., or an equivalent postgraduate degree in Physics or materials science, Nanotechnology or Electronics. OR
  • M. Tech/M. E/M. S (by Research) or an equivalent postgraduate degree in Engineering/Technology in disciplines such as Chemical, Materials, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering.
Monthly Salary
  • For JRF: Rs 37,000/- Plus HRA for Candidate having Score/Rank in any recognized National Eligibility Test; Rs 30,000/- Plus HRA for Candidate not having any score/rank.
  • For SRF: Rs 42,000/- Plus HRA for Candidate having Score/Rank; Rs 33,000/- Plus HRA for Candidate not having any score/rank.
Age Limitmaximum 35 years
Selection ProcessOn the basis of interviews to be conducted after initial shortlisting based on academic qualifications.

Project DescriptionThis ANRF-funded project tackles one of the most persistent hurdles in thin-film photovoltaics: the Staebler-Wronski Effect (SWE). Primarily observed in hydrogenated amorphous silicon and related inorganic thin films, SWE causes a significant drop in photoconductivity and conversion efficiency upon prolonged exposure to sunlight. The research focuses on developing mitigation strategies—such as atomic-level doping, hydrogen dilution, or the use of nanocrystalline silicon buffers—to stabilize the material's atomic network and prevent the light-induced creation of "dangling bond" defects.
Duration3 years (JRF for first 2 years, SRF for third year) – purely on temporary basis
