| Project Description | This critical public health initiative under the ICMR-National One Health Mission (NOHM) addresses the threat of "spillover" infections from animals to humans. Sub-Project-3 specifically targets pork-associated zoonotic parasites (such as Taenia solium or Toxoplasma gondii) circulating in the Indian pig population. The research aims to map the prevalence of these parasites, identify environmental and management-based risk factors, and perform genotype profiling to understand transmission dynamics at the human-pig interface. The project emphasizes the "One Health" approach, recognizing that the health of people is closely connected to the health of animals and our shared environment. |
