| Project Description | This project is a critical part of the DBT-UMMID (Unique Methods of Management and Treatment of Inherited Disorders) initiative, specifically targeting the Aspirational District of Ferozepur, Punjab. Managed by the Department of Human Genetics at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) in collaboration with Civil Hospital Ferozepur, it focuses on the early detection of inherited genetic disorders. The program screens pregnant women for carrier status (e.g., Thalassemia) and newborns for treatable metabolic conditions, ensuring that high-risk families receive timely genetic counseling and medical intervention. |
