CMERI Recruitment 2026 Technician I 20 Posts Online Application

CSIR–Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI) is looking for eligible candidates to apply for 20 permanent positions of Technician Grade I at its Durgapur (West Bengal) campus and its Extension Centre, Centre of Excellence for Farm Machinery, Ludhiana (Punjab). The last date for submission of online applications is 21.01.2026. Candidates are advised to carefully review the eligibility criteria and ensure full compliance with all prescribed conditions before applying.

The selected technicians will be engaged in technical operations, equipment maintenance, workshop support, and assistance in research and field-related activities as per institutional requirements.

Vacancies & Eligibility Criteria:

Technician-I (Fitter) 08 18 to 28 Years SSC / 10th Standard or equivalent with Science subjects with minimum 55% marks and:
  • ITI certificate or National / State Trade Certificate in Fitter from a recognized institution, OR
  • 2 years full-time apprentice training in Fitter trade, OR
  • 3 years work experience as Fitter in Government / PSU / Autonomous Body.

Pay Level–2 (₹19,900 – ₹63,200)

(Approx. ₹37,000 per month including allowances)

Technician-I (Electrician / Mechanic – Electrical Power Drives) 05 SSC / 10th Standard or equivalent with Science subjects with minimum 55% marks and:
  • ITI certificate or National / State Trade Certificate in Electrician / Mechanic (Electrical Power Drives), OR
  • 2 years full-time apprentice training in the relevant trade, OR
  • 3 years work experience in relevant electrical trade in Government / PSU / Autonomous Body.
Technician-I (Electronics Mechanic / Instrument Mechanic) 06 SSC / 10th Standard or equivalent with Science subjects with minimum 55% marks and:
  • ITI certificate or National / State Trade Certificate in Electronics Mechanic / Instrument Mechanic, OR
  • 2 years full-time apprentice training in the relevant trade, OR
  • 3 years work experience in electronics / instrumentation trade in Government / PSU / Autonomous Body.
Technician-I (Digital Photography) 01 SSC / 10th Standard or equivalent with Science subjects with minimum 55% marks and:
  • ITI or Trade Certificate in Digital Photography or equivalent, OR
  • 2 years full-time apprentice training in Digital Photography or equivalent, OR
  • 3 years work experience in Digital Photography in Government / PSU / Autonomous Body.
Age Relaxation
  • SC / ST: 5 years
  • OBC (NCL): 3 years
  • PwBD (UR): 10 years
  • PwBD (OBC): 13 years
  • PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years
  • Departmental Candidates / Government Employees: 5 years
  • Widows / Divorced / Judicially Separated Women: up to 35 years (40 years for SC/ST)
  • Ex-Servicemen: As per Government of India rules

Mode of Recruitment :

The selection process will comprise of Application Screening, Trade Test, and Competitive Written Examination.

Stage 1: Application Screening

Received applications will be screened in detail. Shortlisted candidates will be called for a Trade Test to be held later, which will be of qualifying nature.

Stage 3: Competitive Written Examination

Candidates qualifying the Trade Test will be required to appear in a Competitive Written Examination. The examination will be conducted in OMR-based or Computer-Based mode. Questions will be set in both English and Hindi, except the English language section. Exam will comprise of 3 parts, with 150 questions (150 minutes duration).

Paper II and Paper III will be evaluated only for those candidates who secure the minimum qualifying marks in Paper I, as decided by the Selection Committee.

Final Merit List

The final merit list will be prepared solely on the basis of marks obtained in Paper II and Paper III of the Competitive Written Examination.

Fee Structure :

Applicable application fee is to be paid online. Fee structure is -

  • General / OBC (NCL) / EWS: ₹500
  • SC / ST / Women / Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) / Ex-Servicemen: Nil

How to Apply :

Eligible candidates can apply online by following the steps given below:

  1. Applications will be accepted only through online mode via the CSIR–Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI) website.
  2. The online application process will start on 22-12-2025 (10:00 AM) and will close on 21-01-2026 (05:00 PM).
  3. Candidates must have a valid and active email ID and mobile number, which should remain active till completion of the recruitment process.
  4. New users must complete online registration using their name and email ID, then log in with generated credentials.
  5. Fill the online application form carefully with correct personal, educational, trade, and experience details.
  6. Upload recent passport-size colour photograph, signature, and required supporting documents at the specified places.
  7. Applicants other than Ex-Servicemen, SC, ST, Women, and PwBD candidates must pay a non-refundable application fee of ₹500.
  8. The application fee must be paid online through State Bank Collect only and the e-receipt must be uploaded.
  9. Verify all entered details before final submission of the application form.
  10. After final submission, no modification or correction will be allowed.
  11. Candidates should not send any hard copy of the application form to CSIR–Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI). A printout or digital copy of the submitted application form and payment receipt may be kept for future reference.
