| Project Description | This DST-funded project explores the frontiers of Condensed Matter Physics, specifically investigating how Quasiperiodicity—long-range order without translational periodicity—alters the electronic properties of elements. Unlike traditional crystals, Quasicrystals possess "forbidden" rotational symmetries (like 5-fold or 10-fold) that create unique electronic environments. The research utilizes Scanning Tunneling Spectroscopy (STS) to probe the Local Density of States (LDOS), examining how aperiodic arrangements lead to electron localization or unusual transport phenomena in thin films grown under Ultra-High Vacuum (UHV) conditions. |
