| Project Description | This project investigates the complex biochemical pathways of oxidative stress and redox signaling that occur during and after a stroke (brain ischemia). When blood flow to the brain is restricted, an imbalance between the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and antioxidant defenses leads to neuronal death. The research focuses on identifying specific molecular "switches" in the redox system that could be targeted to protect brain tissue and improve recovery. This research is funded by the prestigious DBT-Ramalingaswami Re-entry Fellowship, a program designed to bring high-caliber Indian scientists back to India to lead cutting-edge biological research. |
