  1. Ahar Yojana is a food subsidisation program run by Government of Odisha since April 2015, to provide lunch to urban poor at affordanle rate of INR five rupees. Scheme provides meals in five major cities of Odisha.
  2. Actual cost of food is around INR 20 but is subsidised to ₹inr 5 with financial assistance from Odisha Mining Corporation. It is targeted at over 60,000 people per day.
  3. Food provided under this scheme is Bhata (boiled rice) and Dalma at INR 5. Ahar centres provide food at designated places at 11 am and 3 pm everyday. There are total 100 Ahar centres covering all districts of Odisha.
  4. Mission of scheme is to provide cheap lunch to labourers who travel to big cities in search of work, to ease up inconveniences of labourers. The hygiene of the food is checked by different Municipal hospitals.
