    1. Nov 30 is observed as UN Day of Remembrance for all Victims of Chemical Warfare.
    2. National Statistical Office (NSO) released data for Gross Domestic Product (GDP) Growth in Q2 (July-September) of FY 23 (2022-23) -
      1. Real GDP at Constant (2011-12) Prices in Q2 (2022-23) is estimated to be 38.17 lakh crores, as against 35.89 lakh crores in Q2 (2021-22), showing growth of 6.3 %.
        1. Last 4 Quarter GDP Growth -
          1. Q1 FY 23 (2022-23) - 13.5 %
          2. Q4 FY 22 (2021-22) - 4.1 %
          3. Q3 FY 22 (2021-22) - 5.4 %
          4. Q2 FY 22 (2021-22) - 8.4 %
      2. Nominal GDP (GDP at Current Prices) in Q2 (2022-23) is estimated at 65.31 lakh crore, as against 56.20 lakh crore in Q2 (2021-22), showing growth of 16.20 %.
    3. As per latest Govt Data, Significant decline has been observed in Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) in country -
      1. MMR has been reduced from 130 in 2014-16 to 97 per lakh live births in 2018-20.
      2. With this, India accomplished National Health Policy target for MMR of under 100/lakh live births, and is on track to achieve SDG target of MMR less than 70/ lakh live births by 2030.
      3. Moreover, 8 states have achieved Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target - Kerala (19), Maharashtra (33), Telangana (43), Andhra Pradesh (45), Tamil Nadu (54), Jharkhand (56), Gujarat (57) and Karnataka (69).
    4. Loan Agreement has been signed between India and South Korea, for Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) loan from South Korea, of Korean Won 245.081 billion (Rs 1496 crores), for Establishment of Intelligent Transport System on Nagpur-Mumbai Super Communication Expressway Project in Maharashtra.

      1. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar visited Nepal, as International Observer for elections held for Nepal’s House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly.
      2. Minister of State of External Affairs Rajkumar Ranjan Singh visited Dhaka (Bangladesh), to attend 22nd Council of Ministers’ (COM) meeting of Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).
      3. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhad visited Cambodia, to attend 19th ASEAN-India Summit in Phnom Penh, along with 17th East Asia Summit.

          1. Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh also visited Cambodia, to attend ASEAN Defence Ministers Plus (ADMM Plus) meet and India-ASEAN Defence Meeting.

    2. India provided financial assistance of 100 million USD to Maldives, in form of budgetary support to tide over the difficult economic situation.
    3. Capital markets regulator SEBI formed a panel to review takeover norms, to simplify and strengthen current rules by adopting appropriate global practices. It will be chaired by Shiavax Jal Vazifdar (former Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court).
    4. Ministry of Power launched a scheme for procurement of aggregate power of 4500 MW for 5 years under SHAKTI Policy, with PFC Consulting as nodal agency.
      1. SHAKTI (Scheme for Harnessing and Allocating Koyala Transparently in India) was launched in 2018, to provide coal linkages to power plants which do not have linkage, helping them get cheaper coal and reduce cost of generation.
    5. Padma Bhushan awardee Kathak exponent Uma Sharma received Sumitra Charat Ram Lifetime Achievement Award, in recognition of her contribution in field of Indian classical music and dance.

    1. Nov 26 is observed as National Milk Day In India, to commemorate birth anniversary of Dr. Verghese Kurien, father of India’s White Revolution.
      1. First National Milk Day was celebrated on 26 November 2014, marked by Indian Dairy Association (IDA).
      2. Dr. Kurien is also famous for his ‘Operation Flood’, world’s largest agricultural development program. He established 30 institutions which are run by various farmers and workers and played a key role in establishment and success of Amul brand.
      3. India is world’s largest milk producer, with 22 percent of global production, followed by USA, China, Pakistan and Brazil.
    2. Nov 26 is observed as Constitution Day in India (Samvidhan Divas). It commemorates adoption of the Constitution of India on 26 November 1949 by Indian Constituent Assembly. However, the Indian Constitution came into force on 26 January 1950.
      1. Government declared observing 26 November as Constitution Day in 2015, as 2015 represented 125th birth anniversary of Ambedkar, who had chaired the drafting committee of Constituent Assembly. Previously, Nov 26 was celebrated as National Law Day.

    1. Nov 25 is Marked as UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. 2022 Theme is UNiTE! Activism to End Violence against Women & Girls!.
      1. On November 25 in 1960, three Mirabal sisters were assassinated upon orders from Dominican dictator Rafael Trujillo. In 1981, activists from Caribbean Feminist Encuentros marked November 25 as day to raise awareness of violence against women. In 1999, Date received official UN resolution.
      2. On this occasion, Rural Development ministry launched Nai Chetna month-long campaign, to sensitise women, especially in rural areas, about gender-based violence and make them aware of various mechanisms available to help them.
    2. Sangeet Natak Akademi announced Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards (Akademi Puraskar) for years 2019, 2020 & 2021, along with various other honors -
      1. Akademi elected 10 eminent personalities in field of performing arts as Akademi Fellows.

    1. Australian Parliament approved Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with India, called India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (AI-ECTA).
      1. Under the pact, Australia will offer zero-duty access to India for about 96.4 per cent of exports (by value). This will help take Ind-Aus bilateral trade from USD 27.5 billion at present to USD 45-50 billion in coming years.
      2. Australian Parliament also approved similar pact with the UK.
    2. Jamia Millia Islamia's Professor Khalid Jawed won JCB Award for Literature 2022 for his novel Namat Khana,  which was translated into English as The Paradise of Food by Baran Farooqui. Khalid Jawed received award trophy and cash prize of 25 lakh rupees, while Baran Farooqui received award money of 10 lakh rupees.

        1. JCB Prize for Literature was established in 2018, given to a distinguished work of fiction by an Indian writer working in English or translated fiction by an Indian writer.

    3. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar launched Har Ghar Gangajal project, to provide Ganga water on tap in non-river areas of state, under Jal, Jeevan, Hariyali scheme.

    6. Niti Aayog launched report on carbon capture utilisation and storage (CCUS) policy framework and its Deployment Mechanism in India, aiming to develop a suitable framework to accelerate research on carbon capture, utilisation and storage in India.
      1. As India updated its NDC targets for achieving 50% of its total installed capacity from non-fossil-based energy sources, 45% reduction in emission intensity by 2030 and taking steps towards achieving Net Zero by 2070, role of CCUS becomes important as reduction strategy, to achieve decarbonization from hard-to abate sectors.
      2. CCUS projects are estimated to enable 750 mtpa of carbon capture by 2050, and create employment opportunities of about 8-10 million.
      3. With Annual CO2 emission of 2.6 gigatonne per annum, India is third largest emitter in world after China and US. As India’s dependency on the fossil-based Energy Resources is likely to continue in future, carbon capture utilisation and storage is an essential imperative for India to reach its Decarbonisation Goals.
    7. Indian journalist (From Kashmir) Danish Manzoor Bhat has been honoured with Jaipur Foot USA’s first Global Humanitarian Award, for his efforts in helping people impacted by COVID-19 pandemic.
    8. UN panel recommended listing Australia’s Great Barrier Reef as a world heritage site, stating that world’s biggest coral reef ecosystem has been significantly impacted by climate change and warming of oceans.
      1. Frequent bleaching events are threatening the reef, including four over the last seven years. Bleaching happens when water warms too much, causing corals to expel the colourful algae living in their tissues and turn white.

        1. Middle East Green Initiative Summit 2022 was also held.
          1. Saudi Arabia announced to contribute $2.5 billion to Middle East Green Initiative over next 10 years.
          2. Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, the Public Investment Fund, will also aim for net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
          3. Middle East Green Initiative was launched in 2021 by Saudi Arabia, with aim of reducing carbon emissions from regional hydrocarbon production by over 60 %.

          1. India's per capita greenhouse gas emissions of 2.4 tCO2e (tonne carbon dioxide equivalent) are far below world average of 6.3 tCO2e in 2020.
          2. International community is falling short of Paris Accord goals, with no credible pathway to limiting global temperature rise to 1.5 degree Celsius in place.
          3. Notably, To address climate change, countries adopted Paris Agreement in 2015, to limit global temperature rise in this century to well below 2 degrees Celsius, preferably to 1.5 degrees Celsius, compared to pre-industrial levels.
        8. As per WMO Provisional State of the Global Climate 2022 report by World Meteorological Organisation -
          1. Global mean temperature in 2022 stayed 1.15 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial (1850-1900) average, making 8 years from 2015 (2015-2022) the warmest on record.
        9. G7 leading economies launched an initiative called the Global Shield, which will provide immediate funding to the countries when they are hit by the devastating impacts of climate change.

    8. NASA Launched its Artemis 1 mission, from Kennedy Space Center in Florida (US).
      1. Artemis 1 is an uncrewed first test flight of SLS (Space Launch System) and Orion Spacecraft, which aimed at placing Orion into a lunar orbit, and then return it to Earth. SLS used Interim Cryogenic Propulsion Stage (ICPS) second stage, which performed trans-lunar injection burn to send Orion to lunar space.
      2. Also, NASA’s Artemis 1 Orion Capsule has set a new space flight record for spacecraft designed to carry humans, by traveling 401798 kilometers from Earth, surpassing 1970 record of Apollo 13, which traveled 400171 kilometers from earth.
      3. About Artemis program -
        1. It is a robotic and human Moon exploration program led by United States' National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) along with European Space Agency (ESA), Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), and Canadian Space Agency (CSA).
        2. Major components of program are Space Launch System (SLS), Orion spacecraft, Lunar Gateway space station and commercial Human Landing Systems. The program's long-term goal is to establish a permanent base camp on the Moon and facilitate human missions to Mars.
        3. SLS Missions -
          1. Artemis 1 (2022) is an uncrewed Mission, with goal of placing Orion into a lunar orbit, and then return it to Earth.
          2. Artemis 2 (2024) will be first crewed test flight of SLS and the Orion spacecraft. 4 crew members will perform testing in Earth orbit, and Orion will then be boosted into a free-return trajectory around Moon, which will return Orion back to Earth for re-entry and splashdown.
          3. Artemis 3 (2025) will be a crewed lunar landing, depending on a support mission to place a Human Landing System (HLS) in place in a near-rectilinear halo orbit (NRHO) of Moon prior to launch of SLS/Orion. Crew of four will include first woman and first person of color to land on Moon, to rendezvous and dock with HLS. 2 astronauts will transfer to HLS, which will descend to lunar surface and spend about 6.5 days on the surface.
          4. Artemis 4 (2027) will be a crewed mission to Lunar Gateway station in NRHO, using an SLS Block 1B. A prior support mission will deliver the first two gateway modules to NRHO. The extra power of the Block 1B will allow SLS/Orion to deliver the I-HAB gateway module for connection to Gateway.
          5. Artemis 5 through Artemis 8 and beyond are proposed to land astronauts on the lunar surface, where they will take advantage of increasing amounts of infrastructure that are to be landed by support missions.

    1. Nov 15 is statehood day of Jharkhand. It was created on 15 November 2000, carved out of Bihar. Nov 15 also marks Birth Anniversary of Birsa Munda, a noted Indian tribal freedom fighter who belonged to the Munda tribe.
      1. In 2021, Govt declared November 15 as Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, to mark birth anniversary of Sri Birsa Munda who is revered by tribal communities across country.

On this occasion, Madhya Pradesh notified its PESA (Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act) Rules, to empower Gram Sabhas to take decision on regulations with regard to all natural resources in forest areas. PESA Act gives more constitutional rights to tribal people, to reap benefits of natural resources from forest areas where they live.
      3. Nov 15, 2022 was also observed by Indian Army as Diamond Jubilee (60 years) of Battle of Walong (under 1962 India-China War). Indian troops held Chinese back at Arunachal Pradesh Walong for over 20 days, with close proximity to Tibet region.
    2. 26th edition of multinational Naval exercise MALABAR 22 hosted by Japan, with participation of navies from India, US, Australia and Japan.
    3. 18th edition of Indo - US joint Army exercise YUDH ABHYAS 22 began in Uttarakhand.
    4. On 15 November 2022, world’s population is projected to reach 8 billion people, doubling since population levels in 1974.
      1. While it took 12 years for global population to grow from 7 to 8 billion, it will take approximately 15 years- until 2037- for it to reach 9 billion, marking slowing down of growth of population.

    12. RBI rolled out a pilot project with its own blockchain distributed-ledger technology powered virtual currency e-RUPI, with trial launch of Digital Rupee for Wholesale (e₹-W).
      1. It will initially be used for settlement of transactions in government securities. It will help cut transaction cost and preventing the need for settlement guarantee infrastructure or for collateral to mitigate settlement risk.
      2. 9 banks have been shortlisted in wholesale e-rupee (e-W) pilot project, who have opened accounts with RBI to transact instantaneously in CBDCs (Central Bank Digital Currency).
      3. Pilot project for retail version of digital rupee (Digital Rupee for Retail (e₹-R) will be launched soon. RBI will collaborate with PayNearby and Bankit to integrate CBDC as payment option while National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) will manage the backend infrastructure.

        1. Users of this one-time payment mechanism will be able to redeem voucher without a card, digital payments app or internet banking access, at merchants accepting e-RUPI.
        2. e-RUPI would be shared with the beneficiaries for a specific purpose or activity by organizations or Government via SMS or QR code. It keeps details of beneficiaries completely confidential.
    13. China launched Mengtian, as third (and final) module of its under construction permanent space station Tiangong (Meaning Celestial Palace).
      1. The first module, Tianhe (Meaning Harmony of the Heavens) was launched in April 2021, followed by laboratory cabin modules Wentian (Quest for the Heavens) and now Mengtian (Dreaming of the Heavens).
    14. As per Global TB Report 2022 released by WHO (World Health Organization) -
      1. 21.4 Lakh TB cases notified in India in 2021, 18% higher than 2020.
      2. India’s TB incidence for 2021 is 210 per 100000 population, compared to baseline year of 2015 (when it was 256 per lakh population).
      3. Notably, Under recently launhed Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan initiative, India aims to eliminate TB by 2025, as against global target of 2030.
