Indian Air Force is inviting online applications for contract-based Agniveervayu posts under the Agnipath Scheme for Intake 01/2027. Interested candidates must submit their applications online on or before 01-02-2026 after carefully ensuring that they meet all prescribed eligibility conditions. The engagement will be for a period of four years, with a provision for regularization of up to 25% of Agniveervayu personnel into the Indian Air Force as Airmen after successful completion of the tenure, subject to organizational requirements and performance.

The Agniveervayu role involves military training followed by operational duties as assigned by the Indian Air Force, offering exposure to disciplined service life, skill development, and hands-on experience in varied work environments.

Post Nature & Contract Period
  • The post is contractual under the Agnipath Scheme, for 4 years.
  • Up to 25% of Agniveervayu will be enrolled into the regular cadre of Indian Air Force as Airmen after completion of tenure, subject to policy and performance.
Domicile & Language Requirement
  • Candidates have to choose one of the domicile categories mentioned below and declare the same as their domicile State/ UT in the domicile column in the online application form.
  • The following are the categories of domicile :
    • Permanent Domicile: Candidates having permanent domicile of a district of any State/UT and possessing a valid domicile certificate issued by the competent State authority.
    • COAFP-I: Children of serving Air Force personnel posted in any Air Force unit or organisation located in the concerned State/UT, required to produce a valid COAFP certificate.
    • COAFP-II: Children of retired, discharged or deceased Air Force personnel residing in the concerned State/UT, required to produce service-related documents along with proof of residence
Skill Certificate and Post Engagement Status
  • At the end of the engagement period, a detailed Skill Certificate highlighting the skills and competencies acquired during service will be issued.
  • Agniveervayu will not be eligible for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) status after completion of the four-year engagement period.

Remuneration, Allowances and Benefits

Agniveervayu enrolled under the Agnipath Scheme will be paid an Agniveer package starting at Rs. 30,000 per month, with a fixed yearly increment. In addition to the monthly package, Risk and Hardship Allowances (as applicable in the Indian Air Force), Dress Allowance and Travel Allowances will be payable. Leave, Leave Travel Concessions (LTC) and other allied benefits will be applicable as per existing rules.

Seva Nidhi Package (Terminal Benefits)

On completion of the four-year engagement period, Agniveervayu will receive a one-time ā€œSeva Nidhiā€ package. This package will comprise the individual’s monthly contribution along with an equal matching contribution by the Government, as detailed below:

The total contribution to the Agniveers Corpus Fund after four years will be approximately Rs. 5.02 lakh. On exit after completion of four years, Agniveervayu will receive approximately Rs. 10.04 lakh as the Seva Nidhi Package (exclusive of interest).

  • Agniveervayu are not required to contribute to any Provident Fund in the Indian Air Force.
  • There is no entitlement to gratuity or any kind of pensionary benefits.
Insurance

Agniveervayu will be provided non-contributory life insurance cover of Rs. 48 lakh for the entire duration of their engagement in the Indian Air Force. Death and disability compensation will be governed by the applicable rules and regulations of the Indian Air Force.

Mode of Recruitment :

The selection process will be conducted in three sequential stages: Phase-I Online Test, Phase-II Physical Fitness and Adaptability Tests with document verification, and Phase-III Medical Examination.

Phase-I: Online Test (To be held on Mar 30-31, 2026)

Eligible candidates will be issued admit cards and will appear for an online objective-type examination at designated examination centres as allotted in the admit card. The test will be bilingual (English and Hindi), except for the English paper. Marks obtained will be normalised, and state-wise shortlisting will be done based on normalised scores and allocated vacancies.

Admit Card
  • Admit cards will be issued to eligible candidates for Phase-I Online Test.
  • The admit card will be sent to the registered email ID of the candidate.
  • Admit card will also be available for download through the candidate login on the recruitment portal.
  • Admit card will be released approximately 48–72 hours before the examination.
  • Candidates will be required to carry a colour printout of the admit card to the examination centre, along with original AADHAAR card.

One mark will be awarded for each correct answer, no marks will be given for unattempted questions, and 0.25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer (Negative Marking).

Phase-II: Physical Fitness Test, Adaptability Tests and Verification

State-wise shortlisted candidates from Phase-I will be called to designated Airmen Selection Centres. Document verification will be carried out before commencement of physical tests. Only candidates meeting eligibility criteria will be allowed to proceed further. Docs to be brought during Phase test -

  • Colour printout of Phase-II Admit Card (To be sent to email 48-72 hrs before exam, will also be availaable for download at agnipathvayu.cdac.in).
  • Colour printout of submitted online application form.
  • HB pencil, eraser, sharpener, glue stick, stapler and black or blue ball point pen.
  • Eight passport size colour photographs used in online application.
  • Original or DigiLocker-verified Certificates with four self-attested copies -
    • Matriculation passing certificate with marks sheet.
    • 10+2 or equivalent passing certificate and marks sheet.
    • Diploma or Vocational Course certificates with all marks sheets.
  • Original Domicile Certificate or COAFP Certificate with four self-attested copies as declared during registration.
  • COAFP Certificate or service-related documents with residence proof for children of Air Force personnel, where applicable.
  • Original Phase-I Admit Card with Air Force seal and invigilator’s signature.
  • Original NCC ā€˜A’, ā€˜B’ or ā€˜C’ certificate with four self-attested copies, if applicable.
  • Permission letter from unit or station for serving Agniveer Non-Combatants, if applicable.

After detailed document verification. Physical Fitness Test will be conducted, followed by Adaptability Test-I and Adaptability Test-II.

Candidates qualifying the Physical Fitness Test will appear for Adaptability Test-I (Objective type), which will assess suitability for service conditions. Those qualifying Adaptability Test-I will undergo Adaptability Test-II to assess adaptability to the military environment.

Phase-III: Medical Examination

Candidates qualifying Phase-II will be issued medical appointment letters and will undergo detailed medical examination conducted by the Air Force Medical Team at designated centres. Medical fitness will be assessed as per Indian Air Force medical standards. Candidates declared unfit will have the option to apply for an Appeal Medical Board within the prescribed time.

Final enrolment will be done based on performance in all stages, medical fitness, state-wise merit, and availability of vacancies.

Fee Structure :

Application fee is Rs. 550 (Plus 18% GST) for candidates of all categories, to be paid online during online application.

Registration Process

  1. Complete online registration using a valid email ID and mobile number on the Indian Air Force recruitment portal.
  2. Verify the registered email ID and mobile number through OTP to generate login credentials.

Application Form Filling

  1. Log in using the generated credentials and enter personal, communication and educational details carefully.
  2. Select examination preferences and complete the declaration as required.

Photograph, Signature and Thumb Impression Requirements

  1. Passport size recent colour photograph must be in JPG or JPEG format with file size between 100 KB and 200 KB.
  2. The photograph must be taken within one month from the date of registration, with light background, without facemask or headgear except for Sikh candidates.
  3. The photograph must be taken with the candidate holding a black slate in front of the chest with name and date of photograph clearly written in white chalk, while looking straight at the camera with a relaxed face.
  4. Candidate’s signature must be done on white paper using black ink and signed only by the candidate.
  5. Only the signature area must be scanned and uploaded in JPG or JPEG format with file size between 80 KB and 150 KB.
  6. Parent’s or guardian’s signature image must be uploaded only if the candidate is below 18 years of age, following the same format and scanning instructions.
  7. Left thumb impression must be of the candidate, scanned only from the thumb impression area, and uploaded in JPG or JPEG format.
  8. The left thumb must be inked using a stamp pad and placed on plain blank paper before scanning.
  9. The left thumb impression file size must be between 50 KB and 100 KB.
  10. Live image of the candidate will be captured during online registration using a webcam, and application submission will be allowed only after successful photo match.

Fee Payment and Submission

  1. Pay the applicable examination fee online through the available payment modes.
  2. Review all details carefully and submit the application form, by 01-02-2026.

After Submission

  1. Download and save the final submitted application form for future reference.
  2. There is no requirement to send a printed copy of the application form to Indian Air Force at this stage.

About the Agnipath / Agniveer Scheme

  • The Agnipath Scheme is a Government of India recruitment initiative launched on 14-06-2022 for induction of youth into the Indian Armed Forces.
