    1. Kirti Charka - Sepoy Vrahma Pal Singh of Rajput Regiment. He laid down his life in a fierce counter-insurgency operation in which 3 terrorists were killed at Pulwama in J&K in November 2018.
    2. Shaurya Chakras Include Rifleman Aurangzeb and Major Aditya Kumar of Indian Army.

  3. On this occasion, Railways made ‘digital screens’ operational at 22 stations, to spread awareness among public about heritage of Indian Railways.
  4. PM Narendra Modi as part of his Independence Day speech announced to put India in space by 2022 under manned space mission on board ‘Gajanan’. India will become fourth nation in the world to send astronaut into space after US, Russia and China. Former Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot Rakesh Sharma was first Indian to travel to space, as part of Soviet Union’s Soyuz T-11 expedition in April 1984.
  5. Government announced launch of Ayushman Bharat (now Jan Aarogya Abhiyan) on September 25, aiming to provide country’s poor access to quality and affordable healthcare. Nearly 10 crore families will get health cover worth Rs 5 lakh each year under this.
  6. On this occasion, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik launched Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BY) which provides annual cashless health coverage of Rs 5 lakh per beneficiary family per annum. Patnaik also handed over ‘Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak’ and ‘Jeevan Rakshya Padak’ to two children – Pankaj Kumar Mahanta and Mamata Dalai, respectively, for their act of bravery.
  7. On this occasion, Telangana Govt launched 2 Schemes -
    1. Rythu Bandhu - Its first-of-its-kind life insurance programme worth Rs 5 lakh for farmers in state, with cost approx 650 Crores. Insurance amount will be given to farmer’s family within 10 days, in case of death of Farmer. It will bear the annual premium of Rs 2,271 per farmer. Some Limitations are -
      1. It is limited to farmers aged 18 - 60 years.
      2. Limited to landowners who received monetary assistance of Rs 4000 from the state government to bear farming costs under the ‘Rythu Bandhu’ programme earlier this year.
      3. Tenant farmers have been left out of it.
    2. Kanti Velugu - free eye screening for all citizens.
