NSOU Admission 2025 BEd Special Education Online Application
Netaji Subhas Open University (NSOU) invites online applications for admission to the B.Ed. Special Education programme for the 2025–2027 academic session, offered under the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode.
This specialised programme is designed for aspiring educators who wish to work in the field of special education, focusing on Intellectual and Developmental Disability, Hearing Impairment, and Visual Impairment. It aims to equip candidates with the essential skills, pedagogical strategies, and professional knowledge required to effectively support and educate learners with diverse special needs.
Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates must have completed a Diploma in Special Education (D.Ed. Special Education or equivalent) recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), obtained through regular mode.
Minimum Educational Qualification:
- At least 50% marks in a Bachelor's degree in Science, Social Sciences, or Humanities, or in a Master's degree in any discipline.
- OR 55% marks in a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics.
Programme Duration:
- 2 Years (4 Semesters): For candidates who have completed an RCI-recognized Diploma in Special Education through regular mode.
- 2.5 Years (5 Semesters): For candidates who do not hold an RCI-recognized Diploma in Special Education.

Admission Procedure:
Admission to the B.Ed. Special Education programme will be granted solely based on academic merit, determined by the marks obtained in the qualifying examination. There will be no entrance examination for admission to this programme. Candidates shortlisted on the basis of merit will be required to submit the necessary documents for verification as part of the admission process.

The programme is offered under the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode and provides specialization in two areas: Intellectual & Developmental Disability (IDD) and Hearing Impairment (HI).
This postgraduate programme is specifically designed to strengthen the professional capabilities of educators working in the field of special education. It aims to equip them with in-depth knowledge and practical skills necessary for supporting learners with special needs.
The M.Ed. Special Education programme is recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), ensuring that the curriculum meets national standards and supports professional growth and competency in the field of special education.
Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates must meet any one of the given criteria to be eligible for admission to the M.Ed. Special Education programme:

Special Education) in the respective disability area (Intellectual Disability or Hearing Impairment) recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), with a minimum of 50% marks in both courses. |
| 3 | A candidate who has completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Special Education in the respective disability area (Intellectual Disability or Hearing Impairment), recognized by the RCI, up to the academic session 2014–2015. |
| 4 | A candidate who has passed B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. along with a 4-year Integrated B.Ed. Special Education in the respective disability area (Intellectual Disability or Hearing Impairment) with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognized university, and possesses valid RCI registration. |

Admission Procedure:
Admission to the M.Ed. Special Education programme will be granted strictly on the basis of academic merit. There will be no entrance examination conducted for the selection of candidates.
