Calcutta University Admission 2025 PhD Programme Education Application Form
University of Calcutta has announced admission to the PhD Programme in Education for the academic year 2025. The programme will be conducted by the Department of Education at the Alipore Campus. A total of eight (8) seats are available. Admission will be based on a Research Entrance Test (RET) followed by an interview.
Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Education or M.Ed. with min 55% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade.
Applicants who have already qualified UGC or CSIR JRF, NET, SET, SLET, or hold an M.Phil. in Education are exempted from the written examination and may directly appear for the interview.
Important Dates:
The application process will remain open from 08-09-2025 to 19-09-2025.
Applications must be submitted during this period in hard copy at the Department of Education, Alipore Campus, between 1 pm and 3 pm.
Admission Procedure:
Admission will take place in two stages. Candidates will first appear for the Research Entrance Test, which will consist of a written examination of 50 marks with a duration of 1 hour and 30 minutes. The paper will cover research methodology, statistical analysis, and academic writing in line with the UGC-NET syllabus. Candidates who qualify, along with those exempted from the test, will appear for a personal interview of 50 marks. The final selection and allocation of supervisors will be based on performance in the interview.
Application Fee :
The application fee is Rs. 100, which can be paid online through SBI Collect. Candidates are required to generate a payment receipt and submit it along with the application form.
How to Apply :
Applicants should filled application form in given format only. The completed form, along with all required documents and the payment receipt, must be enclosed in an envelope and submitted in hard copy to the Department of Education, University of Calcutta, Alipore Campus. Only applications submitted within the stipulated dates will be considered. Original documents must be presented at the time of the interview and at later stages of admission verification.
